Carved from the bones of an Historic Firehouse, the developers of HQ Live have spared no expense in delivering a fully loaded acoustically rich space!

Home to Fire Station 16 until it moved almost a decade ago, 115 South Division Street, a 1920’s construction, sat vacant for many years until the City of Salisbury decided to seize the opportunity to breathe new life into the historic building. Devreco had its own ideas about what belonged in the old Firehouse. After going door to door and business to business they discovered the community shared their interests. The City responded to the public’s request to transform the building into a music venue/performing arts space.

Salisbury originally declared Fire Station 16 surplus in 2008 and accepted proposals to redevelop the historic firehouse in 2009 and 2012. After years of public discussion and meetings Devreco was the successful bidder in 2013. The developers invested $1 million into repurposing the structure to a vibrant mixed-use venue and office space.

Construction started in the summer of 2014. The team knew additional exterior openings would be critical to the redevelopment to extend the footprint and overall flow of the indoor/outdoor venue. Because the property lies in Salisbury’s Historic District, Devreco went before the City of Salisbury Historic District Commission for approval to make changes to the exterior physical structure of the firehouse. It was standing room only in Salisbury Council Chambers as community members and stakeholders gathered in support of the request. The Commission approved the changes and work continued on the renovations.

With the liquor license approved, Headquarters Live opened to the public in the winter of 2014. In addition to live performing arts programming, the venue hosts everything from wedding receptions to corporate events.

HQ LIVE is a unique multi-use flex space which can expand to allow up to 1,000 guests or contract for a more intimate event to for approximately 300 guests. Features include fully-loaded large indoor stage, state-of-the-art sound and light production, a wide dance floor perfect for high energy parties, an outdoor courtyard, flat screen TV’s, and a full bar.

The venue consistently hosts a calendar of renowned local, regional and national touring music acts, as well as special events, college parties & formals, film festivals, weddings, theatrical performances, fundraisers, conferences and more.
